The extraordinary result is All the Roadrunning. The songs from their Nashville sessions, all originals, while undeniably modern, have the appeal of classics, whether country, Celtic flavored or gently soulful. All the Roadrunning is Knopfler & Harris making music and, as the lyric for "This is Us" puts it, making history. | | | Product Details: | | | Audio CD Release Date:

Love this CD!Aug 27, 2010
This CD was recommended by friends and it is everything I expected. Mark Knopfler and Emmylou - great combination!
One of the best, everMar 16, 2010 I listened to this cd in the music store when I was selecting some cds to buy. The sound speakers were positioned along the ceiling, so where I walked the music came with me. Instead of looking for a cd to buy, I was listening to one. Emmylou and Mark are magical togeher. I like the balance of the songs selected, nothing too hard, nothing too soft. They really sound so great together and the production is spot on. I've never really listened to either of them before. If this cd was just on the racks, I would have passed it by. So glad it was playing in the store that day. This cd will grab you, that's the only way I can describe it to you. The harmonies are just beautiful. You just wait in antipiation for the harmonies to kick in on every song. Highly recommended from Down Under x Kangaroos and Koalas x
A highly recommended cdJan 25, 2010 Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler, two great people that sound great together. If you have ever been a fan of either one of these people, this cd will make you a fan of both.
Mark Knopfler wrote most of the songs for this cd. Emmylou wrote two. Every cut is a winner. Mark is up to his usual standards of exelence on both the lyrics and the music. Emmylou Harris's songs are also beyond reproach.
For whatever reason you pick up this cd, it will leave you looking for more by each of these artists. It is a wonderful cd and leaves me hoping that they team up again. All the Roadrunning
When Worlds CollideDec 31, 2009 When two different genres of music collide, the results can go either way. In this case Emmylou Harris, whose sweet comforting voice has long been a favorite of mine and Mark Knopfler, whom I remember fondly from that mostly terrible decade of music, the 1980's, have collided and this wonderful music is the result. Both have soft, soothing voices which harmonize beautifully in this collection of sentimental songs with a few upbeat, catchy tunes thrown in for good measure. My personal favorites are Beachcombing; Love and Happiness; Belle Starr; and, If This Is Goodbye, though there is not a bad song to be found. Very relaxing and even inspirational. I have no idea why the negative reviewers found the whole thing depressing. I'll be first in line when and if these two put together another collection.

Beautiful collaboration!Nov 16, 2009 Each number uniquely shows the talents of Mark and Emmylou. Mark flavors each song with his peerless guitar work and folksy voice, while Emmylou enhances the vocals with her wonderful interpretations. It is interesting to hear both musicians exploring their folk roots, after joining up from such diverse musical polarities.
