I have two dogs...one is 55lbs and the other is 75lbs and they both absolutely love this bed! It took one of them a little while to get used to the little bit of noise it makes when he gets on it and the fact that it moves a little (like any air mattress) but now it's his favorite place...I deflate it and take it with us when we go camping or to a friends for the night.

I bought the small size of this bolster bed for my cat who was starting to have some movement issues. He is a fairly large cat and had been sleeping in a medium size dog bed. He is very particular about the type of bed he sleeps in -- it has to be firm, but cushiony. I got tired of replacing the beds when the inner cushion became too flat.
Since I have a SelectComfort air bed, I thought I'd see if someone makes air beds for pets, and sure enough, Coleman did. I bought the smallest size with the bolster because I figured he would like to lay against it or rest his head on it.
At first he didn't care for it. But I put it out again some months later, and once he tried it, he loved it. Once in a great while he goes back to his old bed, but he keeps coming back to the Coleman. I have to make sure it's the right firmness, though, or he won't sleep on it. He likes it rather firm.
I agree that putting the cover over the vinyl inflatable portion is not easy. And the bed I purchased came with a pump, so that wasn't a problem. I do think the cover material could be more durable -- the seams are already starting to pull apart and it hasn't been used very much. The color in the material runs too, even if it's handwashed. So I sometimes leave off the cover if it needs washing and put a throw over it. My cat seems to likes it just as well.
I'm considering purchasing a second bed that can be used as a "couch" upstairs, since my cat likes to sleep in the basement.

Thinking that a vinyl bed would be ideal for our old dog with incontinence problems, we purchased this bed. Disappointments include:
- ill-fitting cover, not like the photo where the bolster cover fits the bolster
- cover must be put on before bed is inflated; to remove the cover for washing, bed must be deflated
- bed cannot be blown up by mouth; you must buy a pump made by Coleman
- bed is noisy when dog gets on and off -- a negative factor during the wee hours of the night
