Description:

The Cure, one of the most revered British bands of the past quarter-century, have unveiled their plans to release four singles, one each month starting May 13th, leading up to the release of their thirteenth studio album, as yet untitled, which will be out on Suretone/Geffen Records September 13, 2008. It will be the band's first album of new music since 2004's self titled album The Cure. Physical and digital singles will be available for purchase in store and on all digital partners.

Why the 13th of each month? The forthcoming album is The Cure's thirteenth studio album... A lucky number indeed! Led as always by lead singer/guitarist Robert Smith, the Cure line-up comprises longtime members bass player Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper and, back in the band for a third time, guitarist Porl Thompson.

The Cure first formed in southern England in 1976 as Easy Cure. In 1978 the 'Easy' was dropped, and The Cure was signed to the Fiction label. In May 1979 their debut album Three Imaginary Boys was released to great acclaim. Other landmark Cure albums include Pornography (1982), The Head on the Door (1985), Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (1987), Disintegration (1989), Wish (1992), Wild Mood Swings (1996), the Grammy-nominated Bloodflowers (2000) and their last full length release, the self-titled set The Cure (2004). 2006 saw the Suretone/Geffen release of Festival 2005, an award winning 5.1 DVD featuring 30 songs, shot by fans, band members and professionals during the summer of 2005's European festival run.

4Cured AgainAug 30, 2008
As a long time, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me era, fan of The Cure, I didn't know what to make of the first single "The One One". With "Freakshow" however, everything came together with the band firing on all cylinders. You can even hear the impact of returning genius guitarist Porl Thompson as he cuts lose. Oh and I loved the cow bell an added touch by a still great band who will go on as long as we are willing to listen and be Cured.....

2oh wellAug 06, 2008
I guess I am a Cure fan, I have all their music, cd's, boxsets, etc.
Not crazy about the new singles, I don't hate them, just don't like them very much. I know everyone has different taste, but for me, if this is any indication of what the album will have, I'm not looking foward to it.

5finally back to KMKMKM! finally!Jul 27, 2008
Freakshow-
this is finally getting back to songs from KMKMKM (kiss me x3 for the non-hardcore fans). This is a dance/rock song that at first seems to be a little weird but after a couple of listens u realize the glory of the song. The lyrics are a bit strange but tell of an off-beat story of a girl (surprise right? lol)
All Kinds OF Stuff-
this is my fav of all the b-sides and really wish this would have made the album. i think this song has a rocking groove that jumps off the disc like few songs do. The wah-wah pedal is a little over used here but it really has been apart of Porl's style for years now so who are we to complain? The lyrics are intriging and make you think a little which is actually sometimes a good thing.
Verdict-
Buy it,listen to it, love it, cherish it! This song is not going to get the airplay on the radio like Only One and Perfect Boy (aug 13th) will but it reminds me of Hot Hot Hot or Why Cant I be you?. if u are a fan of KMKMKM then u will love this song.

5"I can't believe it..."Jul 21, 2008
Awesome single. Very energetic and funky. "Freakshow" is their "Hot, Hot, Hot!!!" 21 years later and still rocking! Also reminds me of the great Cogasm song "A Sign from God" from the South Park guys' Orgazmo movie soundtrack - which was a collaboration with some of The Cure and Reeves Gabrels (check out Reeves Gabrels' and Robert Smith's song "Yesterday's Gone" too if you can find it - quality tune in a very different way).

The b-side "All Kinds of Stuff" is really cool too. Hard one to pin down but kind of a "Never Enough" type tune. The music and beat are quite similar to "A Japanese Dream" as well, which used to be a difficult song to find before the MP3 age.

4Nice FreakshowJul 15, 2008
"I can't believe it
I must be dreaming
She turns
The lights up
Says she is leaving
This is a freakshow
And I am beaten
She spins
The world round
I have to stop"

NICE!! From a long time Cure fan: I'M happy with Freakshow. It isn't epic, but epic for The Cure is so much higher than most other bands. If this was a single from a random band, I would have given it an easy 5. I could have used two b-sides, but still, Freakshow is nice, light, quirky, and very very charming pop. The B-side, "All kinds of Stuff" is a more classic The Cure noise pop with roots from Disintegration (best album ever).
