5fun and creative!Mar 21, 2008
This book is an excellent resource for anyone working with older children or adolescents. The activities are fun, creative, attention grabbers, and very easily combined and/or adaptable to meet the needs of all group members be it behavioral, emotional, or cognitive. I work in a treatment facility with adolescent males who are most likely court ordered and resistant to treatment so they scoff at "group therapy" so I have to keep activities interesting to make them want to be there without the threat of doing something therapeutic. I've had this book for a long time and have used it more in the past three months than ever before simply due to the mix of kids in the group right now. I have actually had other kids "request" to be in the group because the other group members talk about their activities and how much fun the group is. This is a great book and well worth the money. I also have Book 1 (part of the reason I was so sold on getting Book 2) and find it equally as useful!
