5A delayed response to creativityDec 30, 2008
I heard of this album last year and I saw the video for Ghost Opera on demand. I have to admit when I first saw the video I thought to myself what in the world is this drek. Obviously I didn't really pay attention. Fast forward a year later and I decided to give them another chance because everyone compares them to one of the greats in prog-metal. OMG this album is amazing. Have I heard this before (YES) but this band brings something a little different in the way of Khan's voice. His vocal control is incredible and he is a creative writer along with vocal arrangements. Also the keyboardist is flawless. This guy makes every song sound fuller and weirder. He plays throughout the whole album. Not in certain parts of songs. He is EVERYWHERE. Pay attention and you will hear him. I feel the vocalist and the keyboardist drive this band into another level. Youngblood also creates some really odd riffs. Put it all together and it's a masterpiece. I checked out their catalog and this band turned from your average run of the mill prog-metal band into a creative, stand alone prog-metal band. Pay attention to the vocals and the keyboardist to see what I'm talking about. Most of the songs are structured the same so be aware. I love creative bands. I'm with them all the way. And YES call me an Idiot for ignoring this before. I deserve it....LOL.

Also if you can check out the videos. They make this band look and feel larger than life. The Human Stain is a brilliantly constructed song.

5In the Court of KamelotNov 08, 2008
I'm new to Kamelot so my review will probably be brief and an over view. But from what I've listened to so far from this group is killer. I would rate them right up there with Dream Theater. Khan, for me, is somewhere between James LaBrie and Geoff Tate with his voice and delivery. I can't really say that there is anything negative here. The lead off track, 'Rule the World' after the opening 'Solitaire' as a segway is just fantastic. If you love progressive rock or power metal or power prog as I call it, then pick up this cd to start and then work your way to their previous release, 'The Black Halo'. Outstanding.

3Not as good as expected.Oct 18, 2008
Let me just say, I'm not a die hard Kamelot fan, but I really enjoy Kamelot's album "The Black Halo" so I figured I'd probably like Ghost Opera. I was wrong. Ghost Opera is not bad; it just isn't that great. There simply are not any songs that jump out at me. For me it's just mediocre. If you are a fanatic over this band then go ahead and complete your collection, but if you are like me start somewhere else.

2Mediocrity at bestAug 16, 2008
I have heard sooooooo many things about Kamelot, and most of them were good. Most power metal bands' latest albums are usually never the best place to start and that's where I think I went wrong here.

I really was not expecting much to begin with, and even then, I was disappointed. Not too many catchy choruses or memorable solos or anything... The album just doesn't stick out among many other power metal albums. Uhh, there's really not much else to say. I want to get more into Kamelot. To anyone else, this is not a good place to start in their discography.
