If you have a patriotic bone in your body, you'll find it hard not be stirred by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's God Bless America. This 69-minute collection offers 23 flag-waving standards, from "America the Beautiful" and "The Star Spangled Banner" to "Shenandoah" and "This Land Is Your Land." These 1970s recordings tend toward the bombastic, with backing by the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Columbia Symphonic Band, and Philadelphia Orchestra, but they don't sound overly dated, and there's also an intimate a cappella version of "When I First Came to This Land." Richard P. Condie and Jerold D. Ottley conduct, and baritone Robert Merrill contributes two brief solos. Choral music aficionados might also enjoy the Mormons' 1991 recording, Songs from America's Heartland. --David Horiuchi

Great albumAug 04, 2008 This a wonderful CD. Very patriotic and sung beautifully by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
I would recommend this CD to anyone whose a real patriotic American.
Fine American goose-bump choral musicOct 10, 2007 God Bless America is a fine collection of American anthems and battle-cry songs, beautifully executed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. My only complaint is that, while the CD contains more tracks than the original vinyl of the same title, a couple of the better tracks have been left off. But combine this one with their 30 best songs, and you get the lot.
Send it back for remasteringMay 04, 2007 This CD has a great selection of songs from a top-notch choir. Unfortunately the instruments are so loud that you can't hear the singing.

God Bless America - The Morman Tabernacle ChoirOct 25, 2005 I am involved with several veteran/patriotic organizations and frequently have need of music of this nature. This CD is of the highest quality music of this type. I find it to be one of the best choices available for this usage. I would advise others in like situations to consider adding this CD to their resource materials.
