Description:
For thirty-five years of active naval service, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat has served as the foremost air superiority fight of the cold war with continuing service as a fighter-bomber in the Gulf Wars. It is this service and the two hundred thousand sailors, both pilots and “ground” crew, who served in F-14 squadrons with the Tomcat over the years.
This book is a grand remembrance of this great aircraft by those flew it. Hundred of pilots have included their favorite stories of the missions and plane that brought them home. Two hundred exceptional color photographs show the F-14 on the deck, in the air and over the sea.

Any Time Baby¡¡¡Dec 08, 2008 My Son discovered the F-14 watching Top Gun and felled in love with the mighty Tom.As the F-14 get's Sundowned by the Pentagon,it's a good thing to get a mighty good book like this that captures all the essence and magic of a really unforgettable Cat¡¡¡
Brought a tear to my eye...Aug 22, 2008 The title sums it up. I sat down to read this book and the photography combined with the stories brought a tear to my eye at the end of my first run thru it. I wasn't in the Navy, but I'm the right age to have grown up with Top Gun. The movie and my aviation geek-ness gave the Tomcat a special place in my heart, despite that I was USAF for 7 years. Other reviewers who are happy to pay 2-3x the price are dead on. This book belongs on any aviation aficionado's coffee table, at the top of the pile. Bye Bye, Baby.
A book full of nice picturesJul 05, 2008 This book has very nice big pictures of one of the most amazing aircrafts. But it does not score a big mark because of total lack of Tomcat's history and tecnical data.
Proud to have known George HallFeb 22, 2008 I am so very proud to have known George Hall throughout my life and career as a photographer. I am also proud to have more than half a dozen images in the book well displayed. George was a great influence on my persistence in keeping with doing photography and he was always very kind in giving me insight. Nicky and George were also very gracious hosts when ever I would come to see them. This book is the wonderful culmination of all of out hard work and love of the high flying adventure that is modern military aviation. In my opinion, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat will always be the sexiest aircraft ever to fly.

Good photos, great commentaryJan 26, 2008 Great pictures of the mighty F-14 and lots of cool commentary by former Tomcat drivers from the US and one from Iran. The authors could add more from the Iranian side too as there is more from Iran than the US Navy experience with this great aircraft. All in all, a great collection.
