55 For Perfomace... 3 For Sound...Dec 23, 2008
Too be fair... If you compare this poor Capitol release with the "Repertoire" re-master "MOST PEOPLE" will right away notice more depth and clarity in the sound.

I actually believe Capitol mastered this version from an LP, as there are a few times you can noticeably hear some snap, crackle, pops that aren't

If you really want to truly enjoy this...
PICK UP THE... Repertoire #ASIN: B00004TKAQ version of this kiddies...

It sounds the best!!!
Buy & Enjoy... mD

btw... Kudos to rash67 for his insight on this version... He was right on!

5Quicksilver Messenger Service- Happy TrailsDec 21, 2008
Happy Trails Happy Trailsis their first alblum. It's good if you like this kind of stuff(which I do). There is some live parts. Who do you love on one whold side is divided into several different songs, but really not divided at all; there are spaces made afterwards so they can make more money because they were paid by the number of songs on the recording at that time.

5Best album of the late 60sNov 01, 2008
Along with the self-titled first album by The Doors, this album represents the best of the psychedelic jam albums released during the late 60s. Quicksilver dared to do on vinyl what they did live, while most bands offered only short, radio-friendly three-minute songs on their albums. This first album by the band is all you need (perhaps along with "The Best of Quicksilver Messenger Service") to understand why they are so representative what was good about the music that era. "Side one" on the record is one long jam on "Who Do You Love," performed live at the Fillmore Auditorium. That song and "Mona" (another long jam) were written by Ellis McDaniels(aka Bo Diddly), of which "Mona" retains the strongest sense of the Bo Diddly spirit. "Calvary" is another jam gem, but given the cowboy imagery that the band projected, one wonders if they simply misspelled "Cavalry" for the title, suggesting a religious connotation. Regardless, it's another great improvisation. If you even remotely like 60s psychedelic music, you need this CD. By the way, the "[Live]" label on the title is slightly misleading.

5great classic psychedelic blues rock jam albumAug 09, 2008
Imagine Jerry Garcia at his peak, with all 10 fingers intact, though with a lesser band. Most songs are quite strong, though Calvalry suffers from some of the spacey self-indulgence of the era (cf Dead's Caboose).

5Quicksilver at the FilmoreFeb 14, 2008
A rare live album of a much underated 60's band. Excellent guitar playing with the usual long solos that were a part of live 60's performances. This album, I think I am right in saying was rated in the top 200 of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. I thoroughly recommend it!
