Hey You. Yes You.  (Audio CD)
by Ben Lee

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

Ben Lee first came to prominence fronting Noise Addict, a suburban Sydney based punk quartet modeled on Fugazi. The average age was 14 at the time & that time was near eons before Silverchair! Noise Addict won the support of their indie heroes, both Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) & Mike D (Beastie Boys) released the band on their labels. When the band all but came to a screaming halt in 1994 Ben Lee was catapulted into the spotlight with his charming satirical tribute to Evan Dando, 'I Wish I Was Him'. Re-emerging in '99 with his platinum selling album (in Australia) 'Breathing Tornados', Lee had well & truly etched his name into the face of indie pop. His 2002 opus, 'Hey You, Yes You' is an awesome example of this young man's musical genius. Produced by Dan The Automator (Gorillaz, Primal Scream). 16 tracks including an enhanced section which contains the video 'Chills', as well as 3 MP3 files,

5I love itMar 13, 2009
This is Ben Lee's last album before he entered his hippy-love everyone-life is good phase and I think it's brilliant. I like Ben's new albums but I feel like this album was the end of an era as far as his music goes, I miss that era. His newer albums are good too but this was the last of his albums where every song really got me and made me say "yeah, I know how he feels". It's great, buy it.

5Ben gets funky!Feb 20, 2006
Ben left his acoutic roots in his previous album Breathing Tornadoes and continues on his path in this album, Hey You, Yes You. As a devout Ben fan, the lyrics are still brilliant, and the music is enjoyable even if it is heavier than his early days. This album is not quite as heartbroken as his most recent album Awake is the New Sleep, so you won't be depressed listening to this one. Chills is as mellow as it gets on this album, but is done poetically and simply. Great Album!

1Not very goodJul 16, 2004
I liked all of his past albums but this one isn't good. None of the songs are very clever, it's nothing captivating. In fact, I'd get more pleasure listening to just about ANYTHING but this. Spend your money elsewhere.

5Quality Pop MusicJan 07, 2004
This is a great cd, not as good as some Noise Addict stuff, but for me, the two are on completely different levels. Hey You, Yes You is a pop album, plain and simple, with hints of rock and folk and indie. All the songs are great, but my favorites are Something Borrowed, Chills, and Room to Bleed...Something Borrowed Something Blue is a classic rockish pop song, Chills is a fantastic slow Holcombe Waller-esque ballad, and Room to Bleed is just a great song. I would reccomend this album to most anybody, even indie/punk jerk-off hipsters like myself... just take it for what it is. Quality, catchy music.

1Big Nose, Hairy Tooth GuyDec 31, 2003
Ben Lee is funny, you gotta give him that. Running With Scissors is a hilarious song, I laughed so hard when I first heard it. The sad thing is though, I don't think he's trying to be funny. So basically, he sux. The Big Nose Hairy Tooth Guy (inside joke, you wouldn't get it) is back and badder than ever. Literally. Hey is he still dating Claire Danes?
