5Status Quo Still Rock After 40 YearsNov 28, 2009
On IN SEARCH OF THE FOURTH CHORD, Status Quo continue the sound of their rocking 70s peak, once again with Pip Williams producing. Of course, no new ground is broken here, but that hardly matters. The band has proven, like American band the Outlaws, that they can play the same sounds as always and not sound like a self-parody. Although neither Francis Rossi nor Rick Parfitt can match the technical skills of the Outlaws' Hughie Thomasson, Billy Crain, or Chris Anderson, as far as guitar playing is concerned, their ability to carry on the basic Chuck Berry sound and style creates an infectious boogie that is differentiated from most other hard rock/heavy metal by the fact that the vocals actually sound like voices of reason rather than the high-on-Java styles of people like Eddie Vedder or Vince Neil. Moreover, the fact that the band supports efforts to free people jailed in countries not their own makes this CD an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

3In Search of the Fourth ChordSep 19, 2009
In Search of the Fourth Chord being their most recent album and their 2007 release is a straight forward rock album with lyrics that have the same flavour. One single was released from this album,i.e., "Begining of The End". The booklet is a hoot and pays a tribute to all the Indiana Jones movies. All the lyrics are included and we get a list of whom plays what on the album. I did not expect a different sound so bearing in mind this it is a fairly good album with a standar rock sound. 3/5.

4Status Quo - Still Rocking After 30 YearsDec 02, 2008
Status Quo are a band that have pretty much been a United Kingdom only phenomenon. They have been around for more than 30 years, but never made much of a dent in the United States. In fact I don't think I had ever even heard a Status Quo song prior to purchasing this album. I took the plunge, on this their most recent studio album, after reading rave reviews for it in Classic Rock magazine and on the internet. I am happy to say that the album lives up to the hype and is a very good boogie rock n roll record. Highlights include "Beginning Of The End", "Pennsylvania Blues", "Electric Arena", and the rocking "Gravy Train". The last third of the album falls off a bit, and songs like "Saddling Up" may inspire you to hit the skip button, but overall this is a strong record. This is my very first Status Quo purchase and it definitely makes me want to explore more of the band's catalogue.

5This cd is AWESOME!! Fantastic stuff!!Mar 01, 2008
Let me first say that I was NOT ever a fan of Status Quo. Why? Well,to start with,I'm here in the US,and admittedly-the band never caught on here. Just check their catalog and you'll find that ALL of their releases are imports over here. This doesn't mean that I was never 'aware' of the band, tho. I was always under the impression that they were a 'blues/boogie' band that was rather under-whelming and, dare I say-boring. Recently, I got a 'best of'07'cd from Classic Rock magazine (a British mag, I believe),and the first track is 'Beginning Of The End'. I thought-WOW! I'd better investigate further. Well, I listened to the samples of all the tunes on their website, and had to order a copy immediately! Folks-let me be frank here: If you can listen to music like this and not want to 'shake your bum', then you'd better have them call the mortician to come get you! This is stand up,knock-down,dirty boogie-in',take no prisoners blues rock! Bloody fantastic stuff! Order a copy right now,or miss out BIG time. This one belongs in your collection. The only danger is that you may not be able to get it OUT of your disc player! LOL Cheers and enjoy! T
