Works. Not a stand-out.Oct 31, 2009 I've used this remote for around a year. Installation was dead easy. Button layout is adequate.
Sure, it's RF - but the range is poor. Often times I find myself pointing it at the TV as if it were infrared, because it wasn't registering button presses. This happens from 15 feet away. May be due to local A/V receiver and computer RF interference - but this is a typical operating environment.
Not sure if it was worth the money. I was hoping this purchase would end upgrade-itis. It didn't.
Works, but isn't what I wanted, which is probably my faultSep 22, 2009 This product works pretty good for what it says, I just didn't do very good research. I was hoping for a MCE remote similar to my microsoft one, which had a couple of programmable keys, which this product lacks, so I still need 2x remotes.
Works Great! Does Exactly What It's Supposed To Do!Jul 28, 2009 This remote is great. Installation was a breeze. All I did was plug in the USB receiver on the back of my PC and Windows automatically detected it. I was able to use the remote instantly. This is the perfect remote to control your PC and Media Center with. I like to sit back and watch DVDs and listen to music from a distance and this remote definitely assists me with that. All of the expected functionality is there: volume, Media Center button, menu, playback buttons, etc. I have absolutely no complaints. The RF receiver is fantastic. No need to point at any receiver; just use the remote to your desire. Another great thing about this remote it that it is pretty light and rather compact as compared to most other Media Center remotes. It requires two AAA batteries, which are included. Highly recommended!
Hope your luck is better then mine with this remoteMay 29, 2009 The responsiveness of the remote was a disappointment and a significant step backwards for my HTPC. Sometimes the command would get through on the first press, other times I'd need to press the same button one or two more times. Range didn't seem to be an issue, since the performance was the same whether I was in the same room or another. I also tried a USB extender cable to position it away from other equipment, incase interference was the problem. Unfortunately I had to return it. Except for this problem, everything else was extremely simple. Plug it in and you're going. Minor annoyances were that it disabled my existing VMC IR remote. (might be able to tweak this behavior out, but not sure) Also, green button seemed to catch and not pop back up all the way. Ended up going with the Gyration remote, and it is awesome.
Good price but poor range & responsivenessSep 07, 2008 Although the price is good for this RF Windows Media Center remote I can't recommend buying one. The response time between pushing a button and the function happening is EXTREMELY long. Sometimes it seemed like the computer was frozen but actually it was VMC receiving a backlog of commands from the remote! I also don't like the fact this remote doesn't have lighted buttons. It is really something that you use all the time but don't think about until you don't have it.
