| | | | Description: | | Introducing Kindle™ Three years ago, we set out to design and build an entirely new class of device—a convenient, portable reading device with the ability to wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers. The result is Amazon Kindle. We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, you’ll find reading Kindle’s screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper—and nothing like the strain and glare of a computer screen. Kindle is also easy on the fingertips. It never becomes hot, and is designed for ambidextrous use so both “lefties” and “righties” can read comfortably at any angle for long periods of time. We wanted Kindle to be completely mobile and simple to use for everyone, so we made it wireless. No PC and no syncing needed. Using the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, we deliver your content using our own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet. Unlike WiFi, you’ll never need to locate a hotspot. There are no confusing service plans, yearly contracts, or monthly wireless bills—we take care of the hassles so you can just read. With Whispernet, you can be anywhere, think of a book, and get it in one minute. Similarly, your content automatically comes to you, wherever you are. Newspaper subscriptions are delivered wirelessly each morning. Most magazines arrive before they hit newsstands. Haven’t read the book for tomorrow night’s book club? Get it in a minute. Finished your book in the airport? Download the sequel while you board the plane. Whether you’re in the mood for something serious or hilarious, lighthearted or studious, Kindle delivers your spontaneous reading choices on demand. We’re very proud to introduce Kindle and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. - The Amazon Kindle Team | | | Features: | |

KindleNov 04, 2009 It might be good for some I have seen one passenger on airplane using the Kindle, out of 300 passengers.
I sent mine back the books are expensive and I have iPhone which does the same with aps!!
And iPhone is much smaller easy to use any place.
WOW. JUST THE BEST FOR THE PRICENov 03, 2009 I love this little thing. I haven't been excited about anything for a long time, but at this price (149.99) I'm in love with it. I decided to go with the 1st generation for many reasons, like the SD card and being able to replace my own battery. I'm planning on trying out 8GB SD card,16 GB didn't work. However, my 2GB is working great. Yes the button is little annoying but the layout of the keyboard works great. I don't mind having to push extra buttons to move around.
I've put some manga to see if it works, and it does. I've been able to surf on a web a little bit also.
I've been dealing with computer monitors for a long time, and my eyes get tired because of the refresh rate and back light. I wanted something that just wasn't constantly refreshing. I don't mind if the refresh rate was much higher than 80hrz but most LCD monitors are only 60 hertz. I wanted something that isn't constantly moving, even though it's not perceptual it effects the eyes. So my solution is e_ink, and I'm loving it.
I think Kindle 2 is pretty, but I decided to go for something that has an SD card. I would also like Kindle to have PDF reader, but getting converted file isn't too bad. At least there is a work around.
I also have a netbook, which I can carry around, with text to speech program, which can read to me if I want that.
Nook sounds interesting, but I'll refrain from judgment until it's been fully tested by others.
Kindle was my answer to my problem with LCD monitors. I just don't like reading or staring at it for really long time.
Thanks Amazon.
kindleNov 02, 2009 KINDLE IS A GREAT PRODUCT BUT HAS ITS DRAWBACKS, MOSTLY IN THE FORMATS THAT CAN BE LOADED INTO THE PLAYER. I HAD EBOOKS THAT I HAD PURCHASED IN THE PAST FROM DIFF EBOOK SELLERS AND SOME WERE PDF WHICH CANNOT BE LOADED INTO MY KINDLE. I FIND THAT IT IS ALSO TOO EASY TO HIT THE BARS ON THE SIDES AND TURN PAGES BY MISTAKE. I ACTUALLY WISH I HAD PURCHASED THE SONY....
What can i say? I LOVE my Kindle!Nov 01, 2009 I think of a book I want to read, and I have it in less than two minutes tops. It's easier to hold for a long time than an actual book, and when I travel I only need to take this one light-weight object, and I can read anything I want, whenever I want. I could go on and on, but you get the idea here!
Kindle is greatOct 29, 2009 I love my Kindle, it's great. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Unfortunately for me, the price went down on the newer edition 2 weeks after I bought mine! Bummer.
