3Great Addition, Though It Requires Problem Solving SkillsNov 19, 2009
I bought the cymbal expansion set to go with my Rock Band 2 drum set. I was very pleased with the drum set and how sturdy it was and how sturdy the cymbals were. I quickly assembled the set while following the directions and began playing. To my great dismay, the cymbals on the right (which are on one single support) were not able to stay in place and fell while I was playing due to the weight of the cymbals, which was exacerbated by my playing. I put it back in place and the process repeated. The quickest solution I found (though unattractive) was to use a small bit of tape around the base of the cymbal "tree" to keep in in place. I did that to both cymbal "trees" for good measure. Other than that problem, I have no complaints about the cymbal expansion. They are very responsive and provide an excellent alternative to the drum heads for the creative type. One issue that many complain about is the noise of the drum heads. What they should complain about is the noise of the cymbals, which, when struck, can be quite loud and/or very annoying (especially to a college roommate...). Unfortunately, there are no mutes that I am aware of. Maybe problem solving will fix this too. Though they definitely add to the fun factor, I recommend them more to the people who wouldn't mind thinking outside of the box with regards to the issue of the cymbals falling and the noise.

4More realisim, More playabilityNov 13, 2009
The Rock Band drum set is about what you would expect for $75. It allows you to play the game, and with practice, you can get pretty good at it. But real drum sets have CYMBALS. Not only are they more realistic, but they are easier to play, since the target is the edge, not the center.

I upgraded to the cymbals as quickly as I could. The cymbals are very nice, looking and working well, without too much stick noise. The mounts are good at holding the cymbals in the selected position, but are not very flexible in placement. Pretty much the only adjustment you have is height, and not much of that on 2 of the cymbals. Also, there is no capability for tilt.

Once installed, I noticed a significant improvement in my drum scores. It is just easier to hit the cymbals than the drum pads, particularly if you are looking at the screen and not at the drum set.

Plus, it just looks cooler.

I would say that if you have Rock Band, you need to get this kit. The cymbals are as good as the game deserves, and the mounts are adequate. Better mounts, if they ever offer them or you can make them, would be suggested

5You NEED the cymbalsNov 05, 2009
The cymbal extension is must have for Rock Band. After getting the cymbals my scores went up at least 20%. It adds a touch of reality to a already kickin' game.

4Great addition but not flawlessNov 02, 2009
I really like these cymbals, but I have 2 issues with them. One, they are noisy. I play an electronic drum kit at church and the cymbals are much quieter when I hit them. Secondly, the additional weight made the whole kit slowly slip down until they were too low to play. I ended up drilling the support poles and putting cotter pins in them to keep the kit from slipping. Overall, though I think these are great.

5great expansionOct 24, 2009
I haven't quite got used to the cymbols but it does make the drum set feel realitic, shipping was fast and the quality was new just as advertised. I am enjoying the addition to the rock band2 drum set very well couldn't be happier
