Slackstring - the band that couldnt get a break, but should haveOct 01, 2009 Just an FYI for anyone who loves great music, Slackstring makes it (made it). Stranded, Sun again will Shine, Wednesday Morning, Trouble Tamberine, Lend me Your Love, Give Your Love to Me....all awesome. For some reasons, that i will not go into, their progress was not what it should have been. they are currently not together, and the 2 slackstring biproducts are: Musket, and Latch Key Kid (Good Times, you have probably heard), neither of which is as good as the group together. They may never get back together to create sweet sweet music, but this album serves as proof that they were here, and were rad. Highly recommend picking up the van album, which is the better of the 2 (lay back being the other). Their sound will put you in a better place then from whence you came.
Slackstring Dec 30, 2007 I first discovered slackstring through a mountain bike dvd called "the collective." They are a really good band and this cd represents their early work. Since they seem relatively new, I don't doubt they're going to break onto the independent scene pretty nicely. This cd is missing Sunday Jen which is one of the flagship songs off the dvd but it's still worth dropping the money for it. If you like bands like Dispatch and the Panda Dub Squad, you'lle love this band. Also, it's just a good cd to chill out with and enjoy.

Some of the best relaxing music I have ever heardFeb 07, 2006 I heard about Slackstring while watching a mountain bike film titled "The Collective". One of the things that was nice about The Collective was the music, of which Slackstring provided several songs. The music is relaxing, exactly the kind of music to put on after a long day at work, or when you're relaxing outside in the sun. The cd itself almost sounds like a live album, the songs are not over produced like many new "rock" and "pop" albums. Closing your eyes, you can almost imagine the band being right next to you.
The music itself is a slow quiet blend of island music and folk rock, something that does not need to "grow on you", it is always good. It is a very nice change from the usual anger-rock of mountain bike films.
The only negatives I have with the album are that its too short, at only 30 minutes, I wish I had more, and my favorite song from them, Sunday Jen, is not available on the album. However, I expect another album to come out eventually, when I will be able to get more, and their site, www.slackstring.com, has info on how to get the single "sunday jen".
