An excellent buy...Oct 31, 2009 After visiting several stores and reading many online reviews , I purchased this Sony STR-DH100 2-Channel Audio Receiver as a replacement for my aging receiver. I just wanted a basic sound system for a reasonable price and without a whole lot of "bells and whistles". I only use it for listening to music and the radio. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of sound and ease of installation and operation. My speakers are located in the ceiling of 5 rooms throughout my house and the quality of the receiver has significantly improved the sound that comes through each of the speakers. As other reviewers have said, this Sony Audio Receiver is an excellent piece of equipment for a reasonable cost. I would purchase it again without reservation and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a basic audio receiver that delivers high quality sound at a reasonable price.
You can't go wrong with this one!
Good reciever at a great price.Oct 29, 2009 I've been pleasently suprised by this expensive reciever. It has good sound quality, looks good (matches my other systems) and is very inexpensive. I use it to increase the volumen of my TV/DVD, and it does a fine job with the Sony bookshelf speakers SS-B1000. It is also small enought to fit on my mantle under the TV (~12" deep).
I'll update after a year of use.
A Fine Basic RecieverOct 26, 2009 This is a fine basic receiver, which provides clean FM sound (the tuner is excellent) and plenty of power for the small bookshelf speakers paired with it. Highly recommended, at a great price!

So far, so good!Oct 16, 2009 This receiver has performed very well. Easy to operate. Easy to hook-up other components, great remote control and blends well with other electronics.

Nice Little Receiver - Few Suggestions for SonyOct 10, 2009 I've had this receiver for three-weeks now & so far, so good. I purchased it to replace an existing Sony receiver that I'd had for seven years which started to fail (constant static from left speaker). I use this receiver to listen to radio, CDs, and internet radio/iTunes music through my laptop.
Pros:
Great price.
Sounds better (stronger) than my old 100w receiver.
Easy to hook up.
Looks good.
Free shipping from Amazon (always a pro).
Cons:
I do not like the input selection dial that lets you select what you're listening to (CD, video, FM, AM, etc.). I liked my older Sony better (push button).
Kind of a pain switching between radio selection mode & preset station mode. Once again, I liked my older Sony better (each preset had its own button).
Speaker selection (A, B, A&B, none) is also different. You keep pushing the button to rotate through those choices. Again, I liked it better on my older model (each speaker had it's own button).
I must admit that I do not use the remote that came with the unit. Looking at the remote it appears that some of my complaints would be covered, however I have enough remotes in my life already and find it easier to use the unit's controls rather than fumble with the remote.
My cons appear to be greater in number than my pros, but overall I really like the improved sound over my older unit. I'm sure I'll get used to the differences and heck, maybe even put batteries in my remote & give that a try!!
If you're looking for a great sounding, easy to hook up, and inexpensive receiver I'd give this one a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck!
