Keeps HR accurately, and helps in bike trainingNov 16, 2009 I have used this product over the last 2 months, as a training tool for mountain biking. It has been keeping my HR without any issues, allowing me to use HR zones as a motivating tool. Pretty cool watch - also water-proof. My wife also uses it while walking, to check calories burned. Good buy.
Great monitor!Nov 16, 2009 I bought this heart rate monitor a few weeks ago to help aid my workouts. Personally, I was most interested in the calorie burning feature. I picked this monitor because I have had good fortune with other Timex products, the reviews were good, and this monitor allowed me to put in my weight for a more accurate reading.
Overall, I really love this product. I am able to use it for my own interests, and appreciate that there are tons of other options that I can utilize if I decide to do so in the future (such as alarms for going below a certain heart rate). I have had no problem getting the sensors to work, and have no other issues with the watch.
The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the lack of instructions. The instructions are very step by step for most settings. However, the manual does not tell you how to set your weight. I am not all that electronically inclined, but I was able to figure it out after fiddling with the buttons for a few minutes. If I remembered what I did, I would post it. I think I had to hit the recall button. Anyway, it didn't end up being that difficult to figure out, but it is a problem.
I highly recommend this product.
Very Inaccurate Calorie CalculationNov 12, 2009 I bought this product and am very disappointed by its inflated calories-burned calculator. It doesn't ask for gender or age. Do your research. The calorie calculator is worthless.
Timex Heart MonitorNov 11, 2009 I am using the Timex T5G971 personal heart rate monitor. I find it is easy to use and is very accurate when I have compared it to other heart rate monitors. My only complaint is that I have been unable to get the audio alarm to work.
Timex T56971 Heart Rate Monitor -- Good BuyNov 11, 2009 I've just had this HR monitor for about a month, but have been VERY satisfied with it. I find it easy to use the options/settings (sometimes have my kids change settings on products that are not intuitively easy to program). It also hasn't picked up on other neighboring HR monitors so far, something I found to be a problem with my last monitor. Would recommend!
